The Cyprus Minister of Transport, Communications and Works says that the long- awaited contracts for the Larnaca port and Marina project are to be signed later in 2018. The project is considered to impact citizens of Larnaca in a beneficial way, and the minister assured that the efforts were being made to quicken the process.
The ministry is negotiating the projects with three foreign companies, two of them are currently in Cyprus to provide their opinions and to examine the construction area.
Demetriades said that the investor would be chosen in March and the contracts would be subsequently signed later in the year.
Transport Ministry announced a renewed plan for the Larnaca port and marina in January 2017. Judging from the available reports the marina will be the largest one in Cyprus and will include 1,000 berths and a port; all together that constitutes an approximate area of 510, 000 square meters.
Furthermore, it could entail the building of several average sized apartments, several lavish villas and a hotel as well as working spaces and a commercial center.
Since Cyprus is in the eastern Mediterranean, its location predetermines its fate and makes it an ideal place for cruise ships coming from Rhodes, Crete, Antalya, Marmara, Alexandria and Port Said.
